ABC announced today it would offer online text commentary tracks for full episodes of some of its programs. The first commentary is for the new V sci-fi remake with participation from executive producers Scott Peters and Steve Pearlman. It’s due to hit ABC.com Saturday, a delayed release after the first episode of the show aired on TV last night. Further, ABC is enabling fans to create their own commentary tracks using the same tools.

Blizzard just opened a huge can of worms — or of pandas, in this case. The company announced the opening of an in-game pet store in World of Warcraft, wherein players can purchase their own Pandaren Monk or Lil’ K.T., the Littlest Lich, for ten bucks. Half of the purchase price of the Monk goes to the Make-a-Wish Foundation until the end of the year, but all of the Lil’ K.T. proceeds go to Blizzard’s spare Ferrari fund.

Distribution of Approve 71 donors from Washington Microsoft made a big splash a few weeks ago by donating $100,000 to the Approve 71 campaign. Indeed it was a significant and much-needed contribution by a major Washington employer. But the really big story is that Microsoft’s gift was only one of 4,175 donations made by Washingtonians from across the state (see map). Nokia Siemens, a telecommunications equipment joint venture, plans to lay off up to 5,700 employees, or 7-9 percent of its work force, in order to cut about $740 million in costs. The company, which is a joint venture between Siemens and cell phone maker Nokia, will also whittle down to three business units from five. LG has just announced a new touchscreen phone in South Korea, the LG SB210 – which, apart from providing the usual features, it also offers maps for 280 golf courses and other golf-related services, including a so-called “Receive PJT” application.

The handset also comes with a G-sensor, compass and a calories calculator.

The SB210 looks a lot like Verizon’s upcoming Chocolate Touch VX8575 – and I actually think it’s the same phone, slightly modified.
